Where to find us
Pen Hendre is situated in the village of Trefor on the lovely Llyn Peninsula, a stunning region of North Wales offering a long stretch of unspoiled coastline with spectacular views. For beach lovers there are two to chose from - a lovely family friendly sandy beach with harbour wall and another pebbly, more rugged beach, both only ten minutes walk from the house.
Trefor itself is a small traditional village where there is still a working(unobtrusive) granite quarry - one of only two in the UK - providing the granite for curling stones. Small fishing boats operate from the bay, collecting scallops and amateur fishermen can be seen in all weather trying their luck off the pier.
We are less than 30 minutes away from some other lovely places to visit - learn to surf in nearby Abersoch, enjoy a pint in the Ty Coch Inn (voted one of the most scenic beach pubs in the world) and an amble on the beach in picturesque Porthdinllaen or soak in the history of Caernarfon Castle. We are also only 30 minutes from the spectacular Snowdonia National Park. The list is endless. The choice is yours.
If you don't have your own transport you can get to the front door of Pen Hendre by train/bus.
Depending on your starting location, you’d go by train to either Bangor or Pwllheli, then catch a bus to Trefor (bus stop opposite Pen Hendre). From Pwllheli this would involve one bus (20 mins) or from Bangor, two buses (~60 mins). We are also just 30 minutes on the bus from Caernarfon (direct bus, 30 minutes). Local bus (no. 12) Caernarfon-Trefor-Pwllheli runs roughly every hour Mon-Sat with reduced hours on Sundays and bank holidays.
