Festive features

Enjoy a winter break at Pen Hendre throughout December and you'll be sure of some extra Christmas treats.

From the first weekend in December until early January Pen Hendre will be decorated to allow guests to relax and get into the Christmas spirit. Complete with rotating (yes rotating) Christmas tree, sure to transfix the younger members of your family - there is an off switch don't worry! You'll find a number of Christmas movie classics to further enhance your stay. Leave a glass of milk, mince pie (or should that be a Welsh cake?) and a carrot out for Santa and his reindeers and if you've been good boys and girls he won't pass you by.

There are plenty of festive activities in and around the Llyn peninsula over Christmas and New Year. Whether you're after some last minute gifts, feel the urge to indulge in some tasty Christmas treats or want to meet the big man in red himself, you'll be spoilt for choice.

Last year we had a fabulously festive time at the Ffair Nadolig Glynllifon Christmas Fair (10 minutes from Pen Hendre). Some beautifully crafted items for sale in a lovely setting. Perfect for Christmas gifts or a little treat for yourself. Great food too plus Santas grotto for the little ones - see some more of our pics in the Christmas Fair gallery.

There is also a Christmas food and craft fair in the beautiful backdrop of Portmeirion (30 min from Pen Hendre) in early December.

If you're after something a bit more exciting in previous years Zip World has offered free rides for anyone dressed as Santa on their Fforest Coaster (40 minutes from Pen Hendre).

If you'd rather escape over New Year, there is nothing nicer than spending New Year's Day at Porthdinllaen, having a tipple (or two) in the Ty Coch Inn before walking back to Morfa Nefyn along the sandy beach. The views are spectacular. The atmosphere warm and friendly (even if the weather isn't!) - see some more of our pics in the New Year at Porthdinllaen gallery.
